Rob Hurlbut

Managing Director, Agriculture Capital

More

Rob’s 30 years of experience in food and agricultural has been distinguished by his ability to build value through the development of transparent supply chains that deliver a clear consumer promise. At Agriculture Capital, Rob is leveraging his perspective to create customer driven, appropriately scaled, vertically integrated, and sustainable food systems to produce better food, and healthy returns for investors, the environment and our communities. Today Agriculture Capital employs hundreds of professionals who invest in, farm, and operate almost twenty thousand acres and food processing facilities in California, Oregon and Australia.

Prior to launching AC, Rob founded Attune Foods, a company dedicated to delivering simple ingredients for maximum nutritional benefit. The company nurtured a consumer need for improved health into a thriving business that was acquired by Post Foods in 2012 to become its strategic platform in the rapidly growing natural and organic food segment.

Earlier in his career, as CEO of Niman Ranch, Rob created the industry’s leading premium meat brand by constructing a network of over 600 sustainable family farmers who, under common quality and husbandry protocols, supplied the nation’s finest restaurants and retailers with extraordinary pork, beef and lamb. The company was one of the first to construct a vertical supply chain to capture consumer premiums and return them to the farm.

Rob had formative experiences at Nestle, managing consumer brands and commodity purchasing and risk management that provided insight to the impact that (big) food could have on our planet, people and economy.

Today, Rob serves on several boards including California FarmLink a non profit CDFI dedicated to supporting beginning, limited-resource, immigrant and other underserved farmers and ranchers.

Rob lives in San Francisco, and when not thinking about food, loves to spend time with his family and any number of outdoor pursuits.
