Co-founder and President, Lovevery

More

Roderick Morris is Co-founder and President of Lovevery, the award-winning children’s playtime company that’s reimagining what kids’ toys can be, steeping their products in child development science and research in order to make it especially easy for modern parents to give their kids the best possible start in life. Under the direction of Morris and cofounder, Jessica Rolph, Lovevery has launched a series of highly successful products since the company’s launch in 2017, including The Play Gym, now #1 in its sales category on Amazon, and a recipient of a Red Dot Award for High Design Quality; The Play Kits for Babies, a subscription box service delivering precisely the toys infants require for brain development, at precisely the right moment in time, which TIME Magazine named a “Best Invention of 2018;” and The Play Kits for Toddlers, which Business Insider says “greatly benefit,” not only the child, but also “the caregiver who’s also involved in a learning process.”

Prior to Lovevery, Morris built and led the marketing and operational teams at Opower, where he helped create the largest behavioral science experiment in the world and helped more than 100 million people around the world save energy. Morris took the company from early stage to IPO, leading half the company at the time of his departure to start Lovevery. His professional experience prior to Opower includes roles in leadership at technology businesses, as a management consultant, an investment banker, and a Peace Corps Volunteer. Morris received his MBA from Stanford University, and his BBA and BA from the University of Texas at Austin. He currently lives in Boise, Idaho with his wife and two children.

Ryan Pandya

Co-Founder & CEO, Perfect Day

More

Ryan Pandya is the Chief Executive Officer and co-founder of Perfect Day, a food company on a mission to create delicious animal-free dairy products, while leaving a kinder, greener footprint on the planet. Ryan studied Chemical & Biological Engineering at Tufts University, where he contributed to seminal research on tissue engineered meat at the Kaplan Lab before graduating and going on to work at MassBiologics, a small biopharmaceutical company in Boston, MA. He realized that the same technology used in the pharmaceutical industry could solve other world issues, including one that was particularly personal to him – the need for better dairy alternatives.

Having become vegetarian as a teenager, by college Ryan realized that his motivations for giving up meat – concern about the impact of his diet on animal welfare and the environment – were cause for giving up all animal products. He was dismayed to find, however, that the transition to a vegan diet was really hard for one main reason: his love of dairy. An unfortunate incident with a bagel and a sad soy “cream cheese” substitute led him to search for a better way to make the dairy foods he loved without cows.

While digging into how to create animal-free dairy, Ryan was connected to Perumal Gandhi – who, on the other side of the world, was driven to solve the very same problem. Together, Ryan and Perumal set out to create a company to revolutionize the dairy industry, and thus Perfect Day was born. Today they lead a diverse team of chefs, food developers, scientists, engineers, and storytellers who are working in harmony to make their dream of animal-free dairy a reality.

Perfect Day is now pioneering a new and more sustainable era in dairy by using fermentation to create dairy products from the very same proteins (casein and whey) found in cow’s milk, but made without the cow. Named one of Forbes’ 30 Under 30 in 2019, Ryan is committed to making delicious, nutritious food that does less damage to our planet.

Perumal Gandhi

Co-Founder, Perfect Day

More

Perumal Gandhi is a co-founder of Perfect Day, a food company on a mission to create delicious animal-free dairy products, while leaving a kinder, greener footprint on the planet. Perumal studied Biomedical Engineering at SUNY Stony Brook where he worked in the Rubinstein Lab to develop functional tissue engineering scaffolds for the medical industry. Prior to that, he studied Biotechnology at the Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology in Chennai, India, and worked as a research assistant for the Shrivastava Lab at IIT Bombay.

As a child, Perumal’s love for animals was fierce. Although he’d been raised eating meat, he decided to become vegetarian in sixth grade after learning about the mistreatment of chickens. In high school he volunteered for a nonprofit dedicated to caring for Mumbai’s many street dogs. He was disheartened, though, to learn more about the vast numbers of animals harmed by agriculture. After some soul searching, he transitioned to a vegan diet in order to make an even greater impact for the world’s animals.

The transition wasn’t easy. He found that he really missed cheese and dairy products. Thanks to a coincidental twist of fate, Perumal—by this time a graduate student—was connected with fellow dairy lover and aspiring vegan, Ryan Pandya. The duo put their combined engineering backgrounds to work, embarking on a journey to discover how to create dairy using well-known fermentation techniques. Together, Perumal and Ryan set out to create a company to revolutionize the dairy industry, and thus Perfect Day was born.

Five years later, Perumal and Ryan lead a diverse team of chefs, food developers, scientists, engineers, and storytellers who are working in harmony to make their dream of animal-free dairy a reality. Named one of Forbes’ 30 Under 30 in 2019, Perumal is pursuing his passion of helping as many animals as possible while making delicious food that does less damage to our planet.
