Omar Akhtar is the managing editor of Altimeter Group. He oversees the editorial process behind all of Altimeter’s publications, including its research reports, daily blog and multimedia content. Omar’s research focus is paid, earned and owned content strategy, and marketing technology.

Rusty Shelton

President, Advantage Marketing


Rusty Shelton first spoke at Harvard on the changing world of PR and marketing at the age of 23. He founded Shelton Interactive, an award-winning full-service digital marketing and PR agency that has worked with Harvard Medical School, IBM and other top brands and leads digital strategy for top thought leaders like Tom Rath and Capt. “Sully” Sullenberger, in 2010 and it has become one of the fastest growing firms of its kind. An NSA speaker and EO member, Shelton speaks regularly around the country on the changing world of public relations, including speaking at SXSW Interactive on the topic of “Discoverability and the Future of PR.”

He is the co-author of Mastering the New Media Landscape: Embrace the Micromedia Mindset (Berrett-Koehler Publishers, March 2016), which examines a new environment where every individual is a media outlet. In the book he urges readers to stop thinking of media in terms of online versus traditional and instead shift to an understanding of three forms of media – earned, rented and owned – and how to leverage them.

In today’s media environment, your brand is what Google says it is, and Shelton offer specific, actionable advice to companies and individuals alike that will help them build a larger audience and make a bigger impact.

Rick Ducey

Managing Director, BIA|Kelsey


Rick leads BIA/Kelsey’s strategy consulting practice and serves as an advisor to an affiliated investment banking group BIA Capital Strategies. Rick works with media, adtech and martech companies to see and evaluate opportunities and strategies in the market to achieve corporate goals. He helps client with strategic planning, developing partnership strategies, product planning, and achieving revenue growth and diversification. He helps marketers including brands and agencies with effective planning and use of digital media platforms. He also works on investment banking projects assisting buy-side and sell-side clients.

Rick co-cofounded SpectraRep in 2000, a technology company that specializes in emergency alert and warning solutions. Prior to joining BIA/Kelsey, Rick headed the National Association of Broadcaster’s Research and Information Group overseeing all research and information technology initiatives. Rick is an adjunct professor at George Washington University where he teaches classes in digital media entrepreneurship.

Rick earned his Ph.D. from Michigan State University, his M.S. from Syracuse University and his B.A. from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

Outside work hours, Rick’s passions are scuba diving, white water kayaking and his totally magnificent granddaughter.

Gareth Kay
