Alessandra received her PhD in biophysics from the University of Rome ‘La Sapienza’ (Italy). In her dissertation research, under the guidance of Dr. Silvia Capuani.
After graduation, she came to the United States as a post-doctoral research fellow in Biomedical Engineering and Radiology, joining the Laboratory of Structural, Physiological, and Functional Imaging led by Dr. Felix Wehrli in October 2017. Her research has since focused mainly on the development and translation of quantitative MRI methods for measurement of surrogate markers of vascular impairment. In her main project, she applied a battery of new MRI techniques to the study of acute effects of electronic cigarette vaping on the vascular endothelium.
