Dr. Evan Starr is an Assistant Professor in the University of Maryland’s Smith School of Business in the Management and Organization Department. He previously worked as an Assistant Professor in the School of Labor and Employment Relations and the Department of Economics at the University of Illinois. He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Michigan.

Dr. Starr’s research lies at the intersection of labor economics, personnel economics, employment and antitrust law, and entrepreneurship. Some of Dr. Starr’s recent research examines the use and varied impacts of noncompete agreements, which are contracts that restrict the post-employment mobility of employees, on workers and firms.
