At Blizzard Entertainment, Gio Hunt oversees the development of the company’s online products and platform technology, including Blizzard’s worldwide gaming platform, Battle.net, which provides game distribution, ecommerce, social connectivity and content experiences for players and fans of all Blizzard games and esports. He also oversees all of Blizzard’s web and mobile products, including its game and esports websites, mobile applications, and other online products.
Hunt joined Blizzard in 2013 as Chief of Staff to the CEO, where he was instrumental in helping the company’s senior leadership team improve its global business. He was promoted in 2015 to EVP, Corporate Operations, a role in which he oversaw many of the commercial operating teams at the company, including Global Publishing, North America Publishing, Corporate Communications, Business Development, Human Resources and Legal.
Hunt draws upon leadership experience and business and technology acumen developed over a diverse 27-year career. After graduating from Harvard Law School in 1990, he started his career as a lawyer and became a partner in a top law firm specializing in Internet, technology, and entertainment transactions. In the late 1990s, he left the field of law and worked at AOL for nearly a decade, holding senior positions in general management, operational effectiveness, business development, marketing, and strategy. Hunt has also founded and served as CEO of several venture-backed Internet and social media startups.
When he isn’t working, Hunt enjoys playing video games, working out, writing software, and spending time with his family.
