Kent Smetters

Professor Kent Smetters previously served as deputy assistant secretary for economic policy at the U.S. Treasury. He is co-author of Fiscal and Generational Imbalances: New Budget Measures for New Budget Priorities and coedited The Pension Challenge: Risk Transfers and Retirement Income Security. As an academic, entrepreneur, and former government official, his research focuses on public policy, personal financial planning, and corporate and financial risk management. Smetters remains active in Washington, DC, and recently served as a member of the Blue Ribbon Panel on Dynamic Scoring for the Joint Committee on Taxation of the U.S. Congress. He is currently the Interim Faculty Director of the Penn Wharton Public Policy Initiative.
