President and Co-Founder, Alitheon

Scot E. Land is the CEO, President, co-founder and director of Alitheon. Scot has been a founder, CEO, early stage investor, advisor and board member for 22 private and public technology companies including, Absolute Software (TO: ABT), Bsquare (NASDAQ: BSQR), Chilisoft (NYSE: ORCL), CD Radio (NASDAQ: SIRI), Confirma (NYSE:IBM Watson), Emware (Mitsui KK), F5 Networks (NASDAQ:FFIV), MySimon (NASDAQ:CNET), Omeros (NASDAQ:OMER), Radiant Technologies (Comwave Networks) and Real Networks (NASDAQ:RNWK). He was cofounder and was CEO of InVision Technologies (NYSE:GE) maker of the CTX, the world’s first and most successful Automatic Explosives Detection Systems (EDS bomb detectors) for airports and high security government facilities and an early machine vision+expert system (both precursors to Optical AI). He also served as CEO of Intron (economic modeling), Veratect (pandemic and civil unrest detection and forecasting), Neural IQ (cybersecurity), Cascade Design Automation (semiconductor route and place design and simulation (Mentor Graphics) and LizardTech (geospatial image management (Celarterm).

Scot has worked as the technical liaison between Microsoft and Wall Street and Director of E&Y’s International Trade Consulting Practice. He started his career in consulting engineering and developed some of the earliest computer econometric models and serverd as an expert witness before a variety of regulatory agencies in the US and Canada. His interests are at the intersection of technology, strategy and finance. He has worked to help commercialize research from some of the world’s leading science and technology institutions including MIT, Georgetown University, Nanyang Technological University (Singapore), Tsinghua University (Beijing) and the University of Washington.

He cofounded and served as the Executive Director of the University of Washington, Program for Technology Commercialization (joint venture between the Colleges of Engineering and Medicine). He is named inventor on 14 patents. He holds a degree in classical philosophy.

Scot is interested in almost everything but specifically when he has time, reading (political history, philosophy and the power if ideas, finance and international affairs), cycling, fly fishing, white water kayaking and racquetball. Scot is married, has three adult children. Scot and his wife Diana live in Redmond Washington.
